Hoarders' homes present 'increased risk' to firefighters

Extra resources are needed to protect thousands of hoarders at risk of dying in house fires, a leading Welsh fire officer has said.

About 670 hoarders are known to Welsh fire services but they estimate up to 5% of the population has the disorder.

"The risks are increased dramatically" for firefighters when they enter a hoarder's home, said Emyr Davies, of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
