Storm Bronagh brings 'persistent rain' and wind warning

Heavy rain has hit parts of Wales with localised flooding and travel disruption.

The Met Office said up to 60mm (2.4in) of rain could fall and issued a "be aware" warning until 22:00 BST.

A wind warning for south, mid and north east Wales is in force until 09:00.

Firefighters have been called to reports of flooding in Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare, Treherbert and Crickhowell. A landslip has also halted trains on the Rhondda line.

Arriva Trains Wales tweeted to say the landslip happened between Dinas Rhondda and Treherbert.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it received reports of flooding between 17:30 and 19:00.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was investigating a report of flooding at Rhandir Odyn, Dolgellau.

Dyfed-Powys Police said roads had been blocked due to flooding and fallen trees in several areas, including Lampeter, Borth and Llandovery.

Arriva said the weather could cause further disruption on Friday morning.

The wind brought by Storm Bronagh is set to develop across areas in Wales and south-west England before spreading east.

The Met Office said the wind could cause "damage to buildings" as well as bring down trees and branches.

"Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible," a spokesman added.

There is a flood warning in place for the two Gwendraeth rivers in Carmarthenshire.
