Anglesey crossbow death: Man, 38, charged with murder

Gerald Corrigan died three weeks after being shot outside his Anglesey home

A 38-year-old man has been charged with murdering a man who was shot outside his home with a crossbow.

Terence Michael Whall, of Bryngwran, Anglesey, appeared before Llandudno Magistrates' Court on Friday morning and was remanded in custody until a Mold Crown Court hearing on Monday.

Gerald Corrigan, 74, was shot on Anglesey on Good Friday and died nearly a month later on 11 May.

Mr Whall's solicitor Eilian Williams indicated he denied responsibility.

North Wales Police said three other people arrested in connection with the investigation have been released on conditional police bail.

Det Ch Insp Brian Kearney, the senior investigating officer who was in court for the hearing, said North Wales Police were still appealing for information and said Mr Corrigan's family are being supported.

He added: "Specialist officers continue to support Mr Corrigan's partner Marie, and his son and daughter, Neale and Fiona.

"Our thoughts remain with them. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have assisted the inquiry to date."

Detectives have also appealed for information about the movements of a white Land Rover Discovery, reported stolen from Engedi, near Holyhead. It was found burned out at Llanllechid, near Bangor.

Mr Corrigan worked as a lecturer in photography and video in Lancashire before retiring to Anglesey more than 20 years ago, and had a keen interest in nature.
