A great-grandfather killed when his motorbike crashed into a roundabout has been described as "irreplaceable" by his family.

Robert John Evans, 72, from Whitchurch, in Cardiff died in the accident near Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, at about 14:45 BST on Tuesday.

His family said he was a "kind and caring person" and a devoted husband, father, grandad and great-grandfather.

South Wales Police are calling for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

In a statement his family said: "He was a kind and caring person, always willing to help anyone and could turn his hand to any task.

"He will be sorely missed by all and is irreplaceable."

South Wales Police said Mr Evans had been travelling towards Cardiff when the incident happened on the A48 Forage Farm roundabout.

His family are being supported by family liaison officers, the force said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been asked to contact police.
