Tributes have been paid to a teenager who was found dead at a property in north Wales.

Chloe Bidwell, 18, was a joiner and was believed to have been working at the house in Bangor, Gwynedd.

Emergency services were called at 18:58 GMT Wednesday evening to the house.

An investigation by North Wales Police and the Heath and Safety Executive (HSE) is under way, though her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The force said that detectives were not able to immediately confirm the name of the woman who died, but she has been named locally as Chloe Bidwell.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Police attended a property on Deiniol Road in Bangor on 20 December following a report of the unexpected death of an 18-year-old.

"The coroner and Health and Safety Executive have been informed and we continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, which is not being treated as suspicious."

Chloe Bidwell had been studying at Coleg Menai as well as working as an apprentice with the Bangor-based student accommodation service Varcity Living.

She had won national awards for her work while studying at the college, and also played for Llangefni rugby club.

A spokesman for Coleg Menai said: "We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of one of our learners, Chloe Bidwell.

"Chloe, a talented carpentry apprentice at Coleg Menai, won numerous national awards and was well-liked by everyone."

The spokesman added that her loss would be "felt by many" and sent condolences to her family and friends.

Varcity Living said it was unable to comment on the circumstances of the case as an investigation was continuing.

In tributes on social media, Ms Bidwell was described as a talented young rugby player, having played for the MonStars youth team at Llangefni rugby club before moving to the club's senior women's team this season.

A spokesman for HSE said: "We are aware of this incident and assisting North Wales Police."
