A470 Powys £51m road safety upgrade opening
- Published
A £51m project to improve road safety and journey times between two villages in south Powys is being officially opened.
Work on a 3.5 mile (5.7km) stretch of the A470 between Cwmbach and Newbridge-on-Wye has seen sharp bends removed and safe overtaking areas added.
Villagers had long campaigned for improvements to the road they regarded as an accident blackspot.
Welsh Transport Minister Carl Sargeant will open the new section.
The Welsh government said it had been delivered on time and within budget.
The A470 is a main route for drivers travelling between north and south Wales.
