Birthday honours for Ceredigion and Powys community heroes

MBEs go to Kathy Giles from Aberystwyth and Hilda Price from Rhayader for their community support work

Community heroes in mid Wales have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Kathy Giles from Aberystwyth receives the MBE for her work supporting disabled and elderly people in Ceredigion.

Hilda Price from Rhayader, Powys, is also made an MBE for her work with the British Red Cross and the MS Society.

Meanwhile, Dr Roger Haggar is given the British Empire Medal for promoting heritage in Llandre, Ceredigion.

Leading figures from sport and entertainment in Wales have also been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland receives an OBE and MBEs go to singer Cerys Matthews and actor John Barrowman, best known for the BBC Wales sci-fi drama Torchwood.
