High demand for neo-natal beds forces babies' transfer

  • Published

Babies needing neo-natal care in a Denbighshire hospital have had to be transferred to Gwynedd because of unusually high demand.

The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said three babies were transferred from Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

Deliveries have not been affected and neo-natal cots were now available again at Glan Clwyd.

A trust spokesman said such situations arose from time to time.

The transfers took place within the past few days, the trust said.

The trust is conducting a review of maternity services at hospitals across north Wales.
