Catherine Gowing: Police renew appeal for information

Police continue to search for Catherine Gowing, who was last seen on Friday

Police have renewed their appeal for information relating to a missing vet believed to have been murdered.

Catherine Gowing, from New Brighton, Flintshire, was last seen in Queensferry nearly two weeks ago.

Police want information on the movements of her Renault Clio (registration 00D 99970) and a black Volvo S40 (AG58 JHE) belonging to Clive Sharp, 46, from Bethesda, Gwynedd.

Mr Sharp has been remanded in custody on suspicion of Ms Gowing's murder.

Irish-born Ms Gowing has not been seen since leaving the Asda supermarket at Queensferry on 12 October.

Police say the search for her remains focussed around a quarry, pools and woodland in Pinfold Lane, Alltami, where her burnt-out car was discovered.

However, they are particularly keen to obtain information about the movements of her plum or burgundy Renault and the suspect's car between 12 October and 15 October.

'Specialist search teams'

Det Ch Insp Mark Pierce said: "I would urge anyone who can help us with any information about either the Renault or Volvo or Clive Sharp to contact us immediately.

"Our focus however remains on finding Catherine and reuniting her with her family.

"Specialist search teams continue to carry out methodical searches of the woodland.

"We are currently deploying four search teams from North Wales Police and our colleagues in Cheshire Police are supporting us with two of their own.

"National search team advisors are assisting us to prioritise the areas to search and the specialists to use."

Underwater search teams and dogs are also involved in the operation.

In a statement, Ms Gowing's family thanked members of the public for their support and urged anyone with information to contact police on 101.
