North Wales hospice advice line for care homes

A hospice in north Wales is to run an advice line for care homes for patients needing palliative care in a bid to reduce hospital admissions.
St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph, Denbighshire, set up the service after being approached by the health board.
Betsi Cadwaladr health board hopes the scheme will reduce the number of visits to accident and emergency and admissions to Glan Clwyd Hospital.
The pilot scheme will be assessed after six months.
So far 20 homes have signed up for it.
The homes have been given cards with details of the dedicated phone line, and the calls will be answered by trained staff on duty at the hospice.
