Telephone answering firm Moneypenny is to build a £15m headquarters in north Wales that will include a tree house and a village pub for staff.

Located on the Western Gateway site in Wrexham, the new office will have space to house up to 1,000 employees.

The firm provides a telephone reception service for UK businesses and currently employs more than 400 staff in Wales, New Zealand and America.

The 10-acre plot in Wrexham will have nature trails, orchards and gardens.

Ed Reeves, co-founder and director of Moneypenny, said: "We're confident it will be one of the most advanced buildings of its kind in the UK.

"We sat down with a blank piece of paper and asked ourselves what we could do with these 10 acres of dream greenfield land?

"The answer was to create our ideal home - somewhere exciting and innovative, yet practical."

Wrexham councillor Neil Rogers said: "Moneypenny started life in Wrexham. It's grown into an incredibly successful business, and is a major local employer.

"It's brilliant to see the company continuing to invest in its future here."

Work is expected to be finished on the development in spring 2016.
