Family tribute after walker Andrew Parvin found on Orme

The family of a British Aerospace engineer who died while walking on the Great Orme at Llandudno have paid tribute to him.

Andrew Lawrence Parvin's family said walking was one of his passions.

The 47-year-old from Deganwy, Conwy, was also an accomplished sailor and member of Penmaenmawr and Port Dinowric sailing clubs.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

He was reported missing on Monday 21 February and his body was discovered on cliffs in the Llandudno headland on Wednesday.

In a statement released through North Wales Police Mr Parvin's family said he was "a much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle who died tragically on Sunday 20 February whilst walking on the Great Orme in Llandudno".

The family said he led a full and interesting life, with many passions, of which walking was one.

"Andrew was an active member of the Chester Great Outdoor Club, leading many walks and introducing new members to the beauty of Snowdonia," they said.

Mr Parvin was also an accomplished sailor of dinghies and offshore yachts after being encouraged as a child by his father, they added.

The statement said he "adored the family" and enjoyed taking his mother on drives, showing places he loved in Snowdonia.

The avid music fan was also well read, a keen swimmer, photographer and a talented artist.

"Andrew was a fantastic, loving, caring and thoughtful, funny, special person and will be greatly missed forever," they added.
