A multi-million pound surf attraction and "wave garden" in the Conwy Valley will create 60 jobs, developers say.

The Surf Snowdonia project, at a former aluminium factory in Dolgarrog, received planning permission in August.

Conwy Adventure Leisure said its project would create 100 construction jobs and "60 direct jobs on site once operational".

The company said it had invested £7.7m in the scheme, and hoped to start work in February 2014, opening Easter 2015.

The plans include a "wave garden" with lagoons, water slide, wakeboard lake, lodges, restaurant, retail and play facilities along with a main car park for up to 250 spaces.

Conwy Adventure Leisure submitted the planning application after holding a public consultation earlier this year.

Planning permission was given, with provisions including a further noise assessment.

Dolgarrog Aluminium, which employed 170 people, closed in 2007 and an action group was set up to develop the site.
