Denbighshire council shut schools in Rhyl due to a lack of water

Welsh Water says about 9,000 customers were affected by a burst main which forced the closure of public buildings in north Wales.

It says supplies have now been restored at Rhyl, Kinmel Bay and Abergele.

Workmen started emergency repairs after being called to the mains pipe burst at Kinmel Bay on Wednesday afternoon.

Welsh Water has apologised and said customers might experience low pressure and discoloured water as supplies return to normal.

Rhyl's Blessed Edward Jones RC High School said it was opening as normal on Thursday as its water supplies had been restored overnight.

Denbighshire council shut four schools in the resort and public buildings, including Rhyl library and town hall, when supplies were lost.
