A dolphin has been rescued after becoming stranded on a beach in Gwynedd.

Barmouth Coastguard was called to Fairbourne beach just before 13.30 BST.

Members of the public stepped in to help the coastguard team keep the 6ft (1.8m) bottlenose dolphin wet and cold while it was carried into the sea on a sheet.

The dolphin then safely swam away, said coastguard officials.
