A plan to close six primary schools on Anglesey and open two new ones is to go ahead, councillors have agreed.

Ysgol y Parchedig Thomas Ellis, Ysgol Llaingoch and Ysgol y Parc in Holyhead will merge to form a 540-pupil school on the old Ysgol Cybi site.

The new school would cost £11m, and be half-funded by the Welsh government.

Ysgol Ffrwd Win in Llanfaethlu, Ysgol Cylch y Garn in Llanrhuddlad and Ysgol Llanfachraeth will be replaced with a new Welsh-medium school in Llanfaethlu.

Anglesey council heard during a meeting on Monday that no objections had been made to either of the two consultations.
