The Public Services Ombudsman has asked the Welsh assembly to give him more powers.

Nick Bennett told BBC Radio Cymru he wanted permission to begin his own inquiries rather than just respond to complaints.

He also said he wanted to investigate verbal complaints.

An assembly spokesman said the finance committee would consider draft legislation on the public service ombudsman's powers on Thursday.
