No new trains in Wales before 2020, Stuart Cole warns
Rail passengers in Wales are unlikely to see any new trains on local services before 2020, a transport expert has warned.
Prof Stuart Cole from the University of South Wales will tell MPs on Monday that projects such as the proposed £600m South Wales Metro promise faster and more frequent electric rail services.
The Welsh Affairs Committee is holding an inquiry into the prospects for a new rail franchise for Wales and the Borders, which will take effect in late 2018.
Mr Cole told BBC Radio Wales improvements would take some time to come.
