Bowel cancer: Sam Gould filmed message from hospital bed

A Brexit campaigner and UKIP Wales activist who had used social media to raise awareness of bowel cancer when he was diagnosed with the disease has died.

Sam Gould, a married father of three from Caerphilly, was 33.

In April, less than 24 hours after a bowel cancer diagnoses, he made a made a video from his hospital bed warning others not to ignore symptoms of the disease.

He said at the time: "We're all embarrassed to talk about poo and going to the toilet but your GP isn't embarrassed about it and deals with it every day."

Symptoms include rectal bleeding, extreme tiredness, unexplained weight loss and abdominal pain or discomfort.

Every year in Wales 2,200 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer and 900 die from the disease.
