M4 relief road would be built 'promptly' by UK government

The scrapped M4 relief road project would be revived by the UK government, Wales Secretary Simon Hart has said.

Mr Hart said the UK government "could bypass" the Welsh Government and build the road around Newport, but it would be "complicated" and "controversial".

He said he would prefer a collaborative project with the Welsh Government, but that the road would be built "quickly, painlessly and promptly" if Labour were to lose the 2021 Senedd election.

The Welsh Government said it had already made a decision regarding the relief road.
