A 33-year-old man wanted by police in connection with the murder of a Cardiff teenager is due in court in India.

Aamir Siddiqi, 17, died after being stabbed at his home in the Roath area of the city in 2010.

South Wales Police said Mohammed Ali Ege, originally from Cardiff, had been arrested in India on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Two other men are standing trial for Aamir's killing and the jury has been told of the development in the case.

Mr Ege, from the Riverside area of Cardiff, was arrested in India on Monday.

A police statement said officers were liaising with Indian authorities in relation to extradition processes.

The trial of Ben Hope, 38, and Jason Richards, 37, who deny murder and attempted murder, was adjourned at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.

Judge Mr Justice Roderick Evans QC told that jury that he had already asked them to be patient, and he would have to ask them to do so again.

He said that there were difficulties in getting the information that they require on the arrest of Mohammad Ali Ege, as that information had to filter back from India and as a court they were still "taking stock".

The trial is expected to resume on Thursday with DVD evidence from Sheikh Iqbal Ahmed, Aamir's father.

The men are accused of killing Aamir at his family home in April 2010.
