Missing Kyle Vaughan: Posters target rugby fans on trains

Police hope rugby fans in Cardiff for the Six Nations decider will have their memories jogged by posters of a man who has been missing for 10 weeks.

Kyle Vaughan, of Blackwood, disappeared on 30 December and eight people remain on Gwent Police bail over the case.

Officers hope the large posters at Cardiff Central will help as fans go to and leave Saturday's Wales-England game.

Mr Vaughan, 24, is feared dead and police have launched a murder inquiry.

The last reported sighting of the rock music fan, known to his friends as Jabbers, was in the Abercarn and Risca areas late on 30 December.

Police say his silver Peugeot 306 was in a collision on the night he disappeared but it is not known if he was driving it. Later that night the car was found on the A467 between Risca and Crosskeys.

Gwent Police have put an advert on Facebook appealing for information about him.

The advert is aimed at people whose Facebook account is in the police force area and detectives say it has been viewed by around 30% of the people targeted.

Det Supt Peter Jones said: "We hope the Facebook advert and posters targeting the rail network on a busy day for travel will jog someone's memory and lead them to call us with information.

"No matter how insignificant it may seem, just one bit of information could provide a major breakthrough to our investigation."

Specialist search teams continue to look for Mr Vaughan and around 200 hours of CCTV footage is being examined as part of the inquiry.

British Transport Police have also put up posters of Mr Vaughan on part of the south Wales valleys rail network.

Det Supt Jones added: "We remain fully committed to this investigation and have not stopped searching and carrying out enquiries in local communities across Gwent to find Kyle."

A joint statement from Mr Vaughan's family said: "The past 10 weeks have been unbearable for us, not knowing where our son is.

"The agony of not knowing what has happened to Kyle really is taking its toll on all of us."

The family have visited the police incident room to see the search operation.

"We could see that the scale of this inquiry is immense, but we still need more information from the community," they said.

"We believe that someone must know something about our son's disappearance and we are urging anyone who thinks they may have some information to pass this on to Gwent Police or to Crimestoppers - you won't have to give your name.

"Please help us to find Kyle - we need him home."

The eight people on police bail are aged from 15 to 62.
