Wales stars tweet pants on their heads to help Cardiff girl

Photos of Welsh stars sporting their pants on their head are being tweeted in a campaign to help a Cardiff girl who needs a bone marrow transplant.

Sam Warburton and Jamie Baulch are two who have backed the @HelpHollie #pantsonyourhead campaign.

Hollie Clark's parents Steve and Laura want people to register as potential bone marrow donors.

The eight-year-old has to have regular blood transfusions until a donor can be found.

Her mother Laura Clark, who is a GP, got the campaign started just a week ago when she asked former athlete Baulch to back the campaign when she saw him in the gym.

"He was great in getting the ball rolling, Sam Warburton followed suit and it has gone from there," she explained.

Other Welsh stars who have tweeted photos wearing their pants include ex-Wales international Martyn Williams and Hinterland actress Mali Harries.

Mrs Clark said they has pictures tweeted in support of the campaign from around the world and "on beaches and in pubs".

She said it is only the public who can help Hollie. They are urging people to register with the Anthony Nolan Trust as potential donors and she said the charity has seen a big increase in people coming forward this week.

She said Hollie is fine at the moment but they have been spurred into action to do something by her recent diagnosis with a rare bone marrow syndrome.

"We had no idea of the impact this would have," she said.

"But we really need to get the message across that we want people not just aged 18 to 30, but people up to the age of 46 in Wales, and 49 in England."
