Nato summit logo features Newport's Transporter Bridge

The logo for the Nato summit being held at Newport's Celtic Manor Resort in September features the city's iconic Transporter Bridge.

The bridge, which is one of only six working bridges of its kind in the world, was chosen to represent the host city.

A castle, dragon and a Celtic knot to are also used to reflect Wales' diverse heritage.

The logo was officially unveiled in Brussels on Wednesday.

It will be used around the summit venues in September and in communications to thousands of delegates, including President Barack Obama, and media who will attend.

Organisers said the castle icon represented Wales' rich history - with 641 castles Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in the world.

The dragon is said to reflect the Welsh spirit, while the knot symbolises the four corners of the compass and the four elements of earth, fire, water and air.

People from across Wales are being urged to share their images of what makes Wales special to them on the social networking website Twitter using the hashtag #MyWales.

A selection will then be displayed at the summit.

Nato foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels for the last time before the conference in September.

On Tuesday they attended a reception showcasing Welsh produce, which included Pembrokeshire potatoes and Ancre Hill Estates sparkling wine from Monmouthshire.
