Cardiff council hopes to reduce its senior management team by four as part of proposed budget cuts.

If agreed by both cabinet and the council, the team will drop from eleven roles to seven and save £650,000 in 2015/16.

The council says the restructuring is necessary so it can focus on education and children's services.

If the four roles are cut, a number of positions will be merged into single roles with combined responsibilities.

Council leader Phil Bale said: "We believe the merging of these roles fits in with our priorities, making us more sustainable and able to adapt to the challenges ahead."
