Fines to tackle 'disorder' at Caerphilly county bus stations
- Published
People who "loiter" around bus stations in Caerphilly county could face a £100 fine under new powers.
The council has approved plans to enforce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) at bus stations in Bargoed, Blackwood, Nelson and Caerphilly town as well as Caerphilly train station.
The move aims to reduce "anti-social behaviour, disorder and annoyance", a council cabinet report, external said.
That includes drinking alcohol, consuming drugs and damaging property.
Loitering is defined in the report as a person who is not "waiting for public transport or waiting to meet somebody using public transport".
PSPO signs for each station are estimated to cost the council £1,000.
