A global entertainment company is to create 70 new software jobs in Pontypridd.

The jobs will be based at Relentless Software's new studio in Treforest to help fulfil a new multi-national contract for toy-makers Hasbro.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said it was "a significant coup" for the digital media sector in Wales.

The jobs will be created over two to three years in a deal supported by the Welsh Government.

The Brighton-based firm is teaming up with Hasbro on multiple new projects using their cast of interactive toy characters.

The company received a £550k Welsh Government grant to help secure the contract to carry out the work for US-based Hasbro.

Mrs Hart said: "Wales has a growing international reputation as a centre for digital media and I am delighted that a global multinational name like Hasbro is investing in Wales and hope this will lead to further collaboration in the future."
