More hepatitis A cases confirmed at Caerphilly school

Public Health Wales continues to investigate an outbreak of hepatitis A at Glyn-Gaer Primary School

Further cases of hepatitis A have been confirmed at a school in Caerphilly.

There are now six confirmed cases associated with Glyn-Gaer Primary School in Gelligaer, plus two others in the local area.

Public Health Wales said 270 pupils and adults at the school have been vaccinated as a precaution and letters have been sent home about the virus's symptoms.

They include tiredness, headaches, fever, vomiting and itchy skin.

Parents have been advised not to send their child to school for seven days if hepatitis A is suspected due to its very long incubation period.

Public Health Wales continues to investigate the outbreak with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Caerphilly council.
