Neath RFC chairman vows to settle HMRC bill and other debts

The chairman of Neath RFC says the club's outstanding liabilities will be met in full as it faces being wound up.

The Principality Premiership side have until 21 May to settle a debt to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Geraint Hawkes said negative publicity wasn't beneficial but the club's issue with HMRC was "being resolved".

"The situation is no different than it was a number of months ago, although we are now very much closer to concluding things," he said in a statement.

"The club has been granted some more time to settle what's owed as a result of the case we put forward, and I am confident that this will be done in the next two weeks.

"Please accept my apologies for any undue concern caused."

The case at the High Court in London set for 21 May has been marked as final, making any further adjournment unlikely.

Meanwhile the town's football club, Neath FC, claim to have reached agreement with Barclays Bank ahead of a separate High Court hearing on a possible winding-up order on 14 May.
