The trial peak-time closure will start in August and last for six months

A scheme aimed at easing congestion on a stretch of the M4 at peak times will start on 4 August.

During the six-month trial, the westbound on-slip of junction 41 at Port Talbot will shut twice a day during the week.

It will be between 07:00-09:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.

There had been plans to completely close the junction during the trial but they were amended following complaints by traders.

The closure times were agreed following a meeting between the Welsh government, Neath Port Talbot council, representatives from Port Talbot chamber of Trade the local community and Business Wales.

In a separate move, average speed cameras are being installed on that section of the M4 where a fixed camera was removed eight years ago because it was causing tailbacks.

The new cameras will be installed later this summer within the 50mph zone on the westbound side of the motorway around Port Talbot.
