Trinity Mirror to cut South Wales Evening Post jobs

A number of jobs are to be cut at Wales' best-selling newspaper.

Staff at the Swansea-based South Wales Evening Post have been told two photographers, a sports reporter and a sub-editor will lose their jobs.

Parent company Trinity Mirror - which closed its short-lived New Day paper this week - confirmed there would be "a net reduction of four roles" at the newspaper.

The National Union of Journalists said the cuts were a "kick in the teeth".

It is understood the move follows a number of other redundancies at the paper.

Trinity Mirror acquired the Evening Post after buying Local World in a £187.4m deal in October 2015.
