Measuring devolution: Newspapers 'too London-centric'

We're looking at the effect of devolution over the last 15 years and are asking about media coverage of Wales since 1999.

Is there a democratic deficit?

Amol Rajan, editor of The Independent, admitted not enough had been done over the last 15 years to cover Wales.

Although there was now interest in the country as a political, Labour and independence story as the Scottish referendum was being covered.

"It's fair to say as [national newspapers] have come under huge strain in terms of our resources and we've cut back on the amount of on the ground reporting and that's regrettable," said Mr Rajan.

"Welsh readers would be justified in feeling they didn't get quality of service readers in London and big northern cities get."
