A man has been arrested after a 27-year-old woman died in a crash on the M4 in Port Talbot.
It happened on the westbound carriageway between junctions 38 and 39 at about 08:20 GMT on Tuesday.
South Wales Police said a 50-year-old man from Cardiff was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital, where he remains.
Both carriageways had to be closed for several hours on Tuesday morning but diversions were lifted in the afternoon.
The crash, involving a BMW, Peugeot and Audi, happened between the Margam and Groes interchanges.
