'We'll fly the flag every day no matter what'

Tradesmen Lee and Matt say they have spent £200 on union flags and spent three hours a night installing them across the Knowle West area of Bristol.

The pair, who say their efforts are nothing to do with politics, say locals have been very supportive, encouraging them to put up more and sounding their horns as they drive past.

But the appearance of thousands of flags across England has not been universally welcomed.

They come at a time when tensions are running high over immigration - and some associate the flags with the far right.
