Why are we seeing so many fruit flies?
You might have noticed an increase in fruit flies recently.
There's typically an uptick in them in late summer and autumn, and that's due to fermenting fruit, which often ripens quicker in the heat – as the name suggests, fruit flies love rotting fruit.
But fear not. As annoying as they can be, they won't cause any serious harm.
Usually, removing the source of what's attracting them is enough to drive them away. Be sure to keep what you can in the fridge, clean your surfaces regularly, and dispose of food waste as often as possible.
