Murder-plotting husband told TV 'I was womaniser'

Archive video shows the moment a man addressed rumours that he killed his wife - more than 40 years before he was eventually convicted.

Allen Morgan, 73, was found guilty at Luton Crown Court on Wednesday of conspiring to murder Carol Morgan.

Her body was found in the shop they ran together in Linslade, Bedfordshire, on 13 August 1981.

In BBC Look East footage, filmed outside the shop six months later, Morgan said some customers had stopped using the business because of the "gossip" and he had decided to sell-up.

Asked why some believed he killed Mrs Morgan, he said: "Because I was happy-go-lucky, I suppose.

"I was a bit of a womaniser but that's all."
