'Beaujolais day is Swansea's Christmas'

If you are French or live in Swansea the third Thursday in November means only one thing - Beaujolais day.

In France it is marked with fireworks, music and other festivities but in Swansea they take it really seriously.

The Empire salon took more than 80 bookings for Beaujolais Day, with it opening to customers at 06:00 GMT. Some people wanted to come even earlier.

"It's Swansea's Christmas Day," said owner Jennifer Parmenter.

She said there was a "real party feel" in the salon on the day.
