Will there be a Birmingham pub bombings inquiry?

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said he understands the frustrations of Birmingham pub bombing campaigners, but has refused to put a timeframe on a decision over a possible public inquiry.

He was grilled during a series of interviews with BBC local radio presenters around England, including BBC Radio WM's Kath Stanczyszyn.

"We are engaging with the community and campaigners," he said, adding the government would listen to those affected by the 1974 atrocity.

Asked how much longer families would have to wait, he said: "We'll keep talking to them and engage and come to a decision as quickly as we can."

The series of interviews are available on BBC Sounds.
