Labour win 'changes course of history' in Suffolk

The new Labour MP for Suffolk Coastal said her win had changed the course of history in the constituency.

Jenny Riddell-Carpenter beat former deputy prime minister Therese Coffey in a seat that had been Conservative since 1983.

Ms Riddell-Carpenter won 15,672 votes, with Ms Coffey on 14,602.

She said: "It changes the course of history, it means that we can have a belief about what thepolitics looks like in the future."
