Retired miner celebrates his 103rd birthday
A retired miner, believed to be one of the oldest in the UK, celebrated his 103rd birthday on Friday.
Ron "Ginger" Parsons, from Cwm, near Ebbw Vale, started in the pit when he was 14 and spent 50 years working at the coal face.
Former colleagues, family and friends joined Ginger for the celebration and was presented with a certificate from the national union of mineworkers.
Ginger said the secret to living so long is he "never argued with anyone" or "made any enemies".
