Moment boy, 8, calls 999 after mum has allergic reaction

A recording of a 999 call made by an eight-year-old boy after his mother suffered a severe allergic reaction, has been released by the ambulance service.

Alicia was struggling for breath and unable to talk after taking antibiotics at home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, in August last year.

Ryan, who is now aged nine, ran to the house phone and called an ambulance, talking workers through his mum's symptoms, date of birth and postcode.

In recognition of his bravery, Ryan has been selected as a finalist in BBC Hereford & Worcester's Make a Difference awards, which take place on 12 September. Doctors later told Alicia it could have been fatal if he had not called for help when he did.
