Vance: My party needs to earn Americans' trust back on abortion
On abortion, Walz cited the story of Amber Thurman, a Georgia woman who died after not being able to access abortion care in the state. He said if she lived in Minnesota, where he is governor, she "would be alive today".
He argued Roe v Wade, the 1970s Supreme Court case that guaranteed the right to an abortion nationally, should be reinstated.
Vance countered and said he did not support a national ban on abortion and wanted states to decide the matter.
But he also said "we have got to earn people's trust back" on the issue.
