Fighting against Putin only way to honour Navalny - Volkov
Alexei Navalny’s longtime chief of staff, Leonid Volkov, has said fighting against Vladimir Putin is the only way to honour the late Russian opposition leader’s "ultimate sacrifice".
Speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, he added that his friend’s death was an "open wound in our hearts".
He believes there is no substitute for Mr Navalny, but sees his wife Yulia Navalny as the new leader of the opposition movement, even though "she never wanted to be in this public role.’"
This is Mr Volkov's first interview since he was badly beaten in an attack outside his home in Lithuania, where he lives in exile.
For UK viewers, the full interview will air on Sunday 19 May on BBC One at 9am.
