Rope-swing victory for pint-sized protesters

A group of Guisborough children have been praised by the local MP after staging a peaceful protest to save a rope-swing at the end of their road.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council had considered removing tree branches after receiving a complaint about the swing, but following a short campaign, the decision was made to keep it.

One parent, Sophie Cowen, said the community was "proud" of the children's efforts.

Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Luke Myer said the council should be commended for "letting kids be kids".
