Senior Tory says polls suggest big Labour win

Welsh secretary David TC Davies admitted opinion polls are "clearly pointing at a large Labour majority" come the general election on 4 July.

Appearing on The Sun newspaper's online politics programme Never Mind the Ballots, he said that "if the polls are even half right" then "Keir Starmer will walk into Downing Street".

However, he was quick to point out that there is "no great optimism" towards politics in general and that voters might simply be opting for "the least worst option".

Citing "a lot of disgruntlement in Wales" under a Labour Welsh government, he also said his party needed to do more to get its message across.
