Champagne with Tom Jones put singer in hospital

The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue has recalled how a six-hour drinking session with Sir Tom Jones landed him in hospital.

The pair, who were part of the original judging line-up on The Voice from 2012, had gone on a night out that lasted until breakfast.

"He said 'you can't leave the table until the champagne is done' and it just wouldn't stop."

O'Donoghue said he eventually went to sleep and awoke with a heart condition, atrial fibrillation, external, from "drinking nothing but champagne for six hours".

The condition led him to hospital and meant he "missed one or two days of filming" for The Voice.

"It was my fault because I should have stopped drinking very early," Danny told Lucy Owen on BBC Radio Wales.
