Powerlifting grandmother is world record holder
A grandmother, who was persuaded last Christmas to try deadlifting, will be competing in the European Powerlifting Championships this weekend.
Dr Martine Barons, 63, from Stratford-upon-Avon, has gone from a novice to a British, European and world record holder in her age and weight category in just five months.
Her colleague at the University of Warwick, who is also a personal trainer, spotted her potential and she is now nicknamed The Deadlifting Grandma.
