Starmer urges Sunak to meet Port Talbot workers

During a campaign visit to Wales, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer urged Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to meet with workers affected by potential job losses at the Port Talbot steelworks.

"Go and look those people in the eyes as I have and you’ll see their anxiety," he told an audience in Monmouthshire.

About half of the workforce at Tata Steel’s plant in Port Talbot at are at risk of redundancy.

Sunak has said the UK government was "absolutely committed" to British steelmaking, acknowledging it "will be a worrying"” time for those affected by job losses.
