Watch: Maggie Smith's 1967 interview about her early career

The late Dame Maggie Smith talks about her formative career in Oxford in this 1967 archive interview.

The British star of stage and screen has died aged 89.

In her early life her family moved to Oxford, on the eve of World War Two, and she attended the Oxford School for Girls.

She began as a prompt girl and understudy at the Oxford Repertory and once claimed that she never got onto the stage while she was there because no-one in the company ever fell ill.
