Footage obtained by CBS News shows the moment Joe Biden appears to refer to Trump supporters as "garbage", during a virtual campaign call on Tuesday evening. The president later said the remark referred to a comment by a pro-Trump comedian that Puerto Rico was a "floating island of garbage", rather than his supporters as a collective. "I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage - which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say," Biden said.
